What is the Watson Fellowship?

THE THOMAS J. WATSON FELLOWSHIP

A one year grant
for independent study
and travel outside the United States
                 in order to
EXPERIENCE THE WORLD

"The mission of the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship Program is to offer college graduates of unusual promise a year of independent, purposeful exploration and travel outside of the United States in order to enhance their capacity for resourcefulness, imagination, openness, and leadership and to foster their humane and effective participation in the world community."

This grant will allow me to fulfill my dream of traveling the world in search of knowledge, adventure and exciting challenges. I hope to also discover myself along the way and perhaps transition from student to artist.

My project countries include but are not limited to, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Belgium, Ghana, Mali, and The Gambia.

My equipment needs consist of cloth, wax, dyes, various batik materials and most importantly-creativity.

For at least 12 months, I will not be allowed to return to the United States, my birth country of Taiwan, any country I have been to before (China/ India/ Italy) or a country on the State Department Warning list (Indonesia/ Nigeria/ etc.).

During this time, anything could happen, everything could go wrong, and I will definitely have the time of my life!

Please go to their website at www.watsonfellowship.org to learn more about this amazing opportunity.
